Why not?!! Microbrewery beers have taken off in popularity over the bigger, national breweries over the past several years. Also over the past few years, Asheville, North Carolina has been tagged as “Beer City, USA”. Well, move over Asheville, Waynesville, North Carolina (only 25 miles west of Asheville) has some of the most up and coming brews on the market today.
Our personal favorite, BooJum Brewing Company , not only has great tasting beers on their menu but also some of the best food in town. Top that with outdoor seating on an elevated back deck overlooking the mountains and an after hours bar downstairs and it all adds up to one of the best experiences in Waynesville!
Another consideration, and not far off the mark, is Frog Level Brewery . This brewery recently added a food menu and has an added advantage of boasting a huge back deck overlooking Richland Creek. They also partner with Panacea Coffee Company to provide a great lunch with a brew combination. They even share the same huge, back deck. It’s one of our favorite lunch spots just because of the views from the deck.
We have one other brewery in the area that just recently moved to Canton (10 minutes from Waynesville) called BearWaters Brewing Company . They have an on-site restaurant called The Pigeon River Grille with an extensive, and delicious, food menu that pairs well with their brews. Check out their website for events as they often have live music at their venue.
Not sure which to try? No problem! We also have a great tour company in town called Leap Frog Tours that offers beer tasting tours for Waynesville, Asheville and the surrounding small mountain towns of Western North Carolina. You get to taste all the beer you want and leave the driving to them!
